Madolyn Moore Velez died on July 5, 2009, in Abilene, Texas after a three-and-a-half year battle with ovarian cancer. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, July 8, at First Baptist Church of Waco with Dr. Scott Walker officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church prior to service.

Darwin ‘Darby’ T. Strickland Jr.

Devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend, Darby Strickland was born Oct. 27, 1937, to Evelyn and Darwin T. Strickland in Brownwood, Texas. He passed away surrounded by friends and family on July 3, 2009, at his home in Dallas, Texas, after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was preceeded in death by his high school sweetheart, and wife of 49 years, Kay Webb Strickland. He is survived by daughter Sheridan Strickland Dunlap of Dallas; and son Mark Allen Strickland of Heath, Texas. He is also survived by son-in-law, Mark Dunlap; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Strickland; and granddaughters, Sheridan Kay Dunlap, Mason Kathryn Strickland and Darby Tindle Strickland.
