Lions’ hunt for 7-on-7 state title starts Thursday

Jaxon Shipley (right) and the Brownwood Lions will begin their quest to capture their first 7-on-7 Division II state championship at 1 p.m. Thursday at Texas A&M University’s Penberthy Fields. In a change this year, a consolation bracket has been added to the Division II portion of the tournament. The top two teams from each of the eight pools will compete in the 16-team championship bracket Friday, with the bottom two battling in the 16-team consolation bracket. Softball district tourneys first of eight in county in July

As is the case every July, Texas Teen-Age Baseball and Texas Teen-Age Softball district and state tournaments take center stage in Brown County. Over the next four weeks, eight district and state tournaments will be held inside the county.
